Spider vein laser

What is Spider Vein Laser?

The appearance of veins can be unsightly, causing both women and men to seek treatment options. At Dr. Andrea Cosmetic MD, we use a safe and effective laser, Vasculaze, to send pulses of light onto the vein, causing it to slowly fade and disappear, preventing the need for unpleasant incisions and needles.

What types of veins can be treated?

Our laser can treat veins on the face and body including: spider veins, telengiectasias, angiomas, and port wine stains. Varicose veins are typically larger and are not suitable for Vasculaze.

What areas can be treated?

The more commonly treated areas include:

  • Face

  • Décolleté

  • Arms

  • Front and back of thighs

  • Lower legs

How many sessions are required?

Typically three sessions are recommended, however, some lesions may require more treatments. Gradual improvements in the treatment areas can be seen following the first treatment – with the vein appearance improving as treatments progress.

Is there downtime?

Spider Vein Laser is a quick procedure, taking only a few seconds per vein treated. Patients can come into the office and leave within minutes, depending on how extensive the vein or vein network is. Our aesthetician may recommend avoiding activities for a few days that may increase blood flow, like heavy exercise, depending on the areas treated.

Treatment areas should not be exposed to prolonged sun exposure for 1-2 weeks prior to and following treatment, and a sunblock with SPF should be worn.
